Foundation Date 1995 Biography Neoblast started as a production name to push and help Neuraxis (a Melodic Death Metal band from Montreal, Canada) as far as booking and management were involved. The more we learned how things worked and turned out in the Underground, the more we could use from what we learned. With all the experience and reliable contacts we've earned through almost 10 years of dedication to the scene as fans and musicians, we're pretty sure we are now able to make the difference for our rising peers Discography Neuraxis "Virtuosity" Promo, Melodic Death Metal THE NEOBLAST COMPILATION #1 THE NEOBLAST COMPILATION #2, "Quebec Invasion" Website address Mail, Phone & Fax
NEOBLAST AMERICA What Neoblast Is All About Neoblast Records, a non-profit organization, is specialized in Quebec-based products Distribution Deals Our catalog varies a lot, but Neoblast is an exclusive (Canada) distributor of Cinerary (USA), Scattered Remnants (USA), Fate (France), Karnak (Itraly) and Korum (France) About Steven Henry, Neoblast's founder My involvement in the scene began in 1992, under the lights of a Sarkasm show. Lights that I directed however, as I had been hired onboard the technical crew. Responsibility and Care were the two most important values at the time, and both of them had won me this position. I guess this wasn't enough however, as I had to move on from Granby to Montreal to form my own band and enjoy music like all those bands - Obliveon, Gorguts, Voïvod - I admired. I visited the Rock en Stock and the Dutchies each friday to learn more about the Metal scene, check out new titles, pick up flyers and watch the store's walls for "Musician seeking band" offers. Neoblast Records' adventure truly began when Neuraxis finally became mature and solid enough to play shows, as a method of learning how to book my unexperienced band for some shows. Trading shows with regional towns quickly became a nice solution. At this point, Neoblast could have been tagged as a booking and promotion agency. Things went well from there, until Neuraxis finally recorded it's first album, in 1996. I quickly realized no one would help the band taking it's music out there, and so - ignorant of all the responsibilities such a venture would bring me - I decided to create my very own label : Neoblast Records. From that point, my happiness of being part of the Metal scene only grew. I met and made friends with more and more people, had a lot of fun, learned a lot of useful things (lighting, DJ, organization, booking, management) and so on. In 1996, when my friend Stéphane Mellul decided to create Brave Concerts International to take care of Metal shows, I joined his promising business winning diplomacy, discretion and mood control life-given lessons as a result. And recognition at the same time, more than I thought in fact, as people I didn't even know began saluting me here and there. I soon began to be invited to more and more local shows, as a non-paying guest that is. A great thing indeed, as I don't have a lot of money for myself. My rising reputation soon induced jealousy in some people's hearts, making them feel a strange resentment toward me and my activities. All kinds of problems ensued, and my career in the Metal scene soon began to brittle away, shard by shard. Then I went down myself, searching for the key that would solve all my problems. Here's what I found : cut, cut and cut, to concentrate more on the essential. Neuraxis, Disembarkation, Atheretic, BlastFame, Unhuman, Despised Icon and Adenine (R.I.P.; even if the band is technically dead, people continue buying it's only full album) are the bands I will from now on support on the local distribution level. No more show booking and organization for Neoblast, it's way too much risky during summer and not worthy if there's no more personal interest involved behind this. So, no more shows, less distribution and less flexibility. Distribution via Mail-order will continue to be a priority for me, even though it is not really popular around here. Strangely, France is a country where mail-orders are quite popular, the exact opposite of Quebec (Canada) in fact. Anyway, I feel I've yet much to give as a musician, and so I guess I'll concentrate more on this aspect of my life and career from now on. Thanks to everyone which have helped me before, and to those which will help me in the future.
