Sun Descends - Kanun-Law
By Waltz
Translated by Loutzenheiser

Formed in 2001 by Mem V. Stein, singer for Exumer, Sun Descends perform thrash metal that is at times mid-tempo and at times fast, something essential for thrash! The first song of the Quiet Predator mini-CD is my favourite. I really like the drums, the sound, the mixing, Don Fury's production, known for his work with bands like Agnostic Front, Sick of it All and many others, it's impeccable, the song's solo is excellent and the bass is very present, I really like it! Repeater of Birth, the disc's second track, is very good. I really like the song's tempo change when it reaches the chorus, it reminds me of Infernäl Mäjesty's None Shall Defy a bit. I must say that most of the songs on this MCD reminded me of this band, musically speaking of course. Sun Descends' singer doesn't scream as much as Infernäl Mäjesty's singer. The next track, Storm, is a sort of intro for the following one. Nice percussion toms and then BAM! Kanun starts. The guitar jumps and the drums are at full speed, the singer's voice is reminiscent of some old school hardcore bands, another very good track! Kanun and Sacred close out the MCD in a very thrashy manner, the best thrash songs are kept for the end, hehe, super! The only reproachable thing for Kanun-Law's tracks is that they resemble each other a lot, they're good songs but become redundant after a while.

Please note that Exumer's A Mortal in Black three-track demo, released in 1985 (A Mortal in Black, Scanners and Silent Death), is included on this MCD's original version. This is a very good purchase and it's limited to 500 copies, so hurry up and get your copy for $9 + shipping at the following address: http://www.sundescends.com/.
