Carpe Tenebrum - Mirrored Hate Painting

This is the solo project of Astennu, of Dimmu Borgir/Kovenant fame. Coming from him, you'd surely expect something commercial but, well, it's not the case here. Carpe Tenebrum sounds like Dark Funeral with wild keyboards, technical riffs and faster drums. Astennu plays everything on the album, yet doesn't sing. And he's a really good drummer. This is a must for good blastbeats-filled Black Metal fans.

This second Carpe Tenebrum effort is the result of none other than the Nagash (Kovenant, Troll) and Astennu (Dimmu Borgir, Lord Kaos) infernal duo. And, of course, it sounds exactly like both of them's previous works. Dimmum Borgir, Covenant (Nexus Polaris-time) and even Emperor influences are to be found within the Keyboards. This said, such an album offers just nothing new, rather being a gift made to Dark Melodic Black Metal completists. This Carpe Tenebrum piece of work contains eight songs, including The Painting, Void Dress and Dreaded Chaotic Reign. It is distributed by Hammerheart records, which has decided to form a whole new impressive and well-produced catalog of bands. For it's quality recording and music thus, Carpe Tenebrum is a valuable record to listen to.
